AMERICAN’s Gaston Elected Engineering Hall of Fame Chairman

Maury D. Gaston has been elected chairman of the State of Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame.

The State of Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame honors the outstanding accomplishments and contributions of individuals, projects and corporations/institutions that bring significant recognition to the State of Alabama.

Gaston, marketing services manager for the Ductile Iron Pipe and SpiralWeld Pipe Divisions of AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company (AMERICAN), holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Auburn University. He began his career with AMERICAN as a sales engineer in 1982 and held management positions in field sales and customer service prior to his current position.

In addition to the State of Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame, Gaston is a member of several professional associations, including the American Water Works Association, the Water Environment Federation, the Ductile Iron Pipe Research Association, the ACIPCO Leadership Association and the Auburn University Alumni Engineering Council. He is division commander of Deep South Alpha and grand chaplain of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Gaston is a 2007 graduate of Leadership Birmingham. He is married to the former Nancy Runyan and they have one daughter.

Founded in 1905, Birmingham-based AMERICAN is a manufacturer of ductile iron pipe, fire hydrants and valves for the waterworks industry and electric-resistance steel pipe for the oil and natural gas industry. AMERICAN’s diversified product line also includes spiral-welded steel pipe and fire pumps.
