Alabaster, Alabama — Specification Rubber Products introduced its new BarracudaTM restrained joint gasket to the water industry at the annual Water Environment Federation’s Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) in New Orleans, Louisiana, this week.

“The BarracudaTM Gasket is a revolutionary product,” said Steven Smith, president of Specification Rubber Products. “The new safety orange color, which distinguishes our SBR gaskets from RJ gaskets common today, allows installers, contractors and inspectors to easily determine if a joint is restrained by simply seeing the orange color in the joint.

“It also aids dramatically in the disassembly of a joint,” Smith said. “The color identifies the joint as a restrained joint, indicating the proper and safe way to disassemble it. This means getting the job done more quickly, but more important, with less risk of injury.”

Unlike traditional black SBR restrained joint gaskets, the BarracudaTM is the first one “Made in the USA” that is NSF and UL certified.

Since 1968, Specification Rubber Products has been dedicated to the water industry and its consumers who depend on clean water and safe water sanitation. “The BarracudaTM Gasket, an evolution in the in the safety and reliability of SBR gaskets, is another sign of our commitment to the industry we serve, and we are proud to offer this new product,” Smith said.
