Specification Rubber Awarded Small Alabama Manufacturer of the Year

Specification Rubber Products in Alabaster, Alabama, was named the Small Alabama Manufacturer of the Year by the Business Council of Alabama (BCA) and the Alabama Technology Network (ATN) in early October. The award is given to manufacturers that display excellence in leadership, performance, profitability and workforce relations.
Spec Rubber manufactures molded rubber products for the waterworks industry as well as for a variety of industrial applications and celebrated its 55th anniversary last year. In late October, the company also received the 2024 Corporate Leadership Award from the Shelby County Chamber and received top honors in the category of Innovation/Technology at the Birmingham Business Journal’s Manufacturing Awards in August. Previous recognitions for Spec Rubber include Shelby County Small Business of the Year in 2023, one of Alabama’s safest manufacturers by Business Alabama magazine in 2019 and a Rubber News Best Places to Work for the past four years, taking home top honor as Best Place to work in 2021.

The Alabama Manufacturer of the Year awards were presented in three categories based on the company size: small (99 or less employees), medium (100-399 employees) and large (400 or more employees) to allow for recognition of outstanding achievements across all segments of Alabama's diverse manufacturing industry. Presentation of the awards coincided with National Manufacturing Month, which is celebrated in October and highlights the significant contributions of manufacturers in Alabama and across the U.S. Alabama Governor Kay Ivey also declared October 4 as Manufacturing Day in Alabama to further recognize this vital sector.
