AMERICAN Takes Top Honors in Manufacturing Awards

On October 16, 2025, AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company and Specification Rubber Products took home top honors in the Birmingham Business Journal’s (BBJ) Manufacturing Awards. The pictured ad ran in the October 17 issue of the journal.
Julie Shedd, senior vice president in charge of Human Resources, was named Top Woman in Manufacturing. The journal cited her 24 years of work experience in the industry; her commitment to mentoring and the advancement of women in leadership; and her community service, including volunteering in our neighborhood community gardens and serving on the board of Junior Achievement.
Specification Rubber Products received this year’s top honor in the category of Advancement in Automation. The journal cited Spec Rubber’s continued investment in process improvements, including a new wedge paint system, a new metal reclaiming system for induction heating and pressure blasting, and a new robotic system for automating loading, preheating, molding and unloading.
