Among the eight companies that received awards from the Birmingham Business Journal (BBJ) at its Leadership in Manufacturing awards event on June 11, ACIPCO took home the top honor of Manufacturer of the Year, and Specification Rubber Products was named Top Community Supporter.
Companies competed with manufacturers from across the state in several categories including Most Efficient, Environmental Leadership, Innovation, General Excellence, Top Small Business and Global Reach. This is ACIPCO’s second time to receive this award since 2024, the inaugural year of the awards.
“Receiving this award shows we are continuing to make progress in all we do at AMERICAN,” said Senior Vice President of Manufacturing Charles Peek. “It also recognizes the work and dedication of our employees who make our pipe and ensure our customers receive the products they need to deliver essential water and energy across the U.S.”
Manufacturer of the Year
The journal cited ACIPCO’s investment in expanding capacity and upgrading its production facilities with new equipment, including electric-powered furnaces, as part of its AMERICAN For Life – The 2030 Initiative. In addition, the journal noted the company’s investments in employees with the construction of the Employee Center, a 94,000 square-foot building to house training space, health services and more.
The journal wrote: “Between infrastructure demand and its own capital investment, AMERICAN is positioned to stay a major player in the sector.”
Top Community Supporter
The journal cited Specification Rubber’s support for local nonprofits, including those addressing domestic violence, housing assistance and healthcare needs.
The journal wrote: “Employees play a large role in those efforts, organizing donation drives and fundraising campaigns throughout the year. That includes holiday initiatives that provide food, gifts and basic supplies to families in need.”
