Benefits

Competitive Pay and Excellent Benefits

Profit sharing

Based on profitability, AMERICAN pays bonuses up to four times a year. Employees have the option to defer part or all of their bonuses into their AMERICAN 401(k) retirement plan.

401(k) plan

A diversified plan for investing money for retirement. The plan offers traditional, tax-deferred and after-tax Roth 401(k) options. AMERICAN matches 100% of the first 3% an employee contributes to their ACIPCO 401(k) plan account, and 50% of the next 4 to 6% contributed.

Medical, dental and vision insurance

Employees may choose from two medical plans – a traditional group plan or an HSA-qualified plan. Both plans include flexible spending account (FSA) options and offer optional dental and supplemental vision plans. The HSA-qualified plan is a high-deductible medical plan with lower monthly premiums and higher annual deductibles. With this plan, non-Medicare-eligible employees may enroll in a Fidelity health savings account (HSA) and a limited-purpose FSA to cover out-of-pocket dental and vision expenses.

Flexible spending account (FSA) plans

Depending on the medical plan they choose, employees may enroll in either a traditional FSA or a limited-purpose FSA. These tax-advantaged savings plans are used to pay for qualified medical, dental and vision expenses not covered by insurance. The plans also offer a dependent care FSA option, which can be used to pay for work-related dependent care expenses such as child day care, after-school care or adult day care.

Eagan Center for Wellness

AMERICAN’s award-winning wellness program supports healthy lifestyles with an on-site fitness center, a variety of classes and physical conditioning programs, screenings, personal health coaching, rewards for participation and more. The signature program, WellBody, won the prestigious C. Everett Koop National Health Award in 2014. Participants receive monetary incentives for reducing health risks and maintaining or improving their health status.

Eagan College

This program offers on-site opportunities, both in the classroom and online, for employees to learn about workplace safety, develop leadership skills, learn craft trades, and improve basic skills. Selected off-site training and professional development programs are included as well.

Tuition reimbursement

As part of Eagan College, the company offers tuition reimbursement up to $5,400 per calendar year for approved courses from an accredited college, university or technical college (dependent on satisfactory completion of course).

Life and other insurance

AMERICAN provides $25,000 in group life/accidental death and dismemberment insurance without cost or medical examination to every full-time, regular employee. Employees have the option to purchase more coverage, including spouse and dependent coverage. Also available is voluntary long-term disability, critical care and accident insurance.

Paid vacations and holidays

Employees have 11 paid holidays annually and are awarded up to four weeks of paid vacation per year based on length of service.

Parental Leave

AMERICAN offers full-time employees three days paid leave following the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child.

Employee assistance program (EAP)

The EAP provides free, confidential counseling and referrals for assistance during a variety of life situations. The phone line is open 24 hours a day.
