Alloy steel AMERICAN tee-head bolts, studs and nuts are used to secure mechanical joints, mechanical joints with retainer gland, or Mechanical Joint Coupled Joint Pipe. They are supplied in boxes for ease of ordering.
When required and when used with bell flanges “tapped for studs,” stud bolts in lieu of tee-head bolts are normally ordered of the same length of the tee-head bolts they replace.
Tee-head bolts with hex nuts are boxed with the following number per box.
Bolts and nuts of special sizes not routinely furnished by AMERICAN are also shown for information.
Approximate unit weights, in pounds, of nuts only are as follows: 5⁄8"-0.12; 3⁄4"-0.19; 1"-0.42; 11⁄4"-0.80; 11⁄2"-1.40. Bolts for 4"-48" mechanical joints are per AWWA C111.
