Peek Named Vice President and Works Manager at AMERICAN

Charles S. Peek has been named vice president of Manufacturing and works manager at AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company.

“Charles is an experienced and knowledgeable leader with a keen understanding of business and manufacturing operations,” said Van L. Richey, president and CEO of AMERICAN. “His strategic skill and exceptional management capabilities are what is needed to lead the Manufacturing Division.”

Peek joined AMERICAN in 1991 as a process engineer and since that time has held several positions in the company, including leadman, foreman and assistant superintendent of Ductile Iron Pipe. Prior to this appointment, Peek served as assistant works manager for Manufacturing.

Peek is a member of the American Foundry Society and a member and past vice president of AMERICAN’s Leadership Association. As an officer in the U.S. Army, Peek served in the Field Artillery and in the reserve Corps of Engineers. In 2003, he served active duty in Operation Enduring Freedom.

Peek holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, and a master’s of business administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company, founded in Birmingham, Ala., in 1905, is a manufacturer of ductile iron pipe, spiral-welded steel pipe, fire hydrants and valves for the waterworks industry and electric-resistance welded steel pipe for the oil and gas industry. AMERICAN’s diversified product line also includes static castings and high-performance fire pumps.
