The stakes were high in April 2022 when JEA began building a new water reclamation facility. The new plant – Duval County’s first of this type in 45 years – would treat wastewater to be used for commercial and residential irrigation in a growing area southeast of the city.

The city continues to expand its use of the AFC SEMPER RPM as a result of the accuracy of the data obtained, the convenience and ease of setup, and the information available through the Trimble Unity® software.

Selecting pipe materials is not something New York City takes lightly, as it’s the availability of water that has allowed NYC to grow to its enormous size in a relatively small footprint. When choosing materials for its water mains, NYC looks for products that can withstand the tests of time and will not need replacement for more than 100 years.

The Forsyth County, Georgia, Department of Water and Sewer deployed the AMERICAN Flow Control SEMPER® Remote Pressure Monitor (RPM) more than a year ago and has seen numerous advantages. But the AFC SEMPER’s ability to move from one system asset to another, “Lift and Shift,” is among the greatest.

In March 2021, the city of Fairfield, California’s Water Division was tasked with commissioning a new 36-inch Cross Town Transmission Line (CTTL). The CTTL will enhance the already robust distribution system and better serve the water needs of the Water Division’s 33,000 customers. This new CTTL, however, will change the dynamics of the city’s current distribution system.

Four months may sound like a generous amount of time to replace 2,200 feet of water pipe in an urban setting but doing so in the middle of a Colorado winter – while coordinating two crews working a mile apart – is quite a feat.

The year was 1989. The place was Anchorage, Alaska. The project was the installation of a gravity sewer line beneath Campbell Lake while it was drained for dam repairs. While this type of project and installation is unique in itself, the pipeline’s performance during a magnitude 7.1 earthquake more than 30 years after it was installed is equally remarkable.

Located 25 miles north of Seattle, Everett, Washington, is home to more than 110,000 residents. Everett is also located along the Cascadia fault line, which makes the city more susceptible to a massive earthquake. When the time came to replace some of its aging water distribution lines, the city installed AMERICAN’s Earthquake Joint System.

Saint Paul Regional Water Services (SPRWS) currently serves more than 430,000 customers spread over 122 square miles. It maintains over 1,200 miles of water main, much of which was installed in the early-to-mid-20th century.

Running under the lights and sounds of the Las Vegas Strip are miles and miles of water pipelines. Managing and maintaining the main supply of water to this area is a Rate of Flow Control Station (ROFCS) operated by the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA).
