AMERICAN Flow Control Marketing and Technical Manager Derek Scott was named chair of the American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) C515 subcommittee, which develops and publishes ANSI/AWWA C515, the Standard on Reduced-wall, Resilient-seated Gates Valves for Water Supply Service. Scott replaces Tom Mettler, director of Engineering for Waterous Company, as chairman.

AWWA has an extensive standards development program operating numerous standards committees that ensure the end user obtains a product that meets specific criteria relative to dimensions, quality production and testing.

Scott has been with AMERICAN, as well as AWWA, since 1988. The C515 subcommittee falls under AWWA’s Committee on Gate Valves and Check Valves, and Scott has served as secretary on this committee for several years. He also represents the company on various other standards committees.
