Are You Ready to Predict the Future? AMERICAN Flow Control® Introduces AFC SEMPER™ Remote Pressure Monitor

Water utilities face many challenges – aging water infrastructure, non-revenue water, leaks and main breaks, and more. AMERICAN Flow Control® and Trimble® have teamed up once again to offer customers a solution – the AFC SEMPER™ Remote Pressure Monitor (RPM). AFC SEMPER RPM provides utilities with the data they need to monitor water pressure throughout their systems and help identify leaks and reduce non-revenue water.

AFC SEMPER™ RPM is a wireless, battery-powered, pressure recorder that can be installed on any fire hydrant. It is both wireless and Bluetooth capable, so no more dealing with cords or sending employees out into the elements to collect data. The AFC SEMPER RPM transmits the data and seamlessly integrates with the cloud-based Trimble Unity® Remote Monitoring (RM) software for quick and easy data analysis. The software can collect up to 256 data samples per second.

“One of the greatest benefits of the AFC SEMPER™ RPM is that instead of responding to a catastrophic event, the data provided helps water utilities stay on the predictive side of system maintenance.” – Derek Scott, AFC Marketing and Technical Manager

“What makes the AFC SEMPER™ RPM special is the software,” said M.J. Lyons, AMERICAN’s lead on SEMPER. “Trimble is a leader in asset management software. The AFC SEMPER RPM collects data and stores it within the Trimble Unity® RM software, allowing utilities to quickly and easily analyze their system data. It’s the perfect solution for investigating customer pressure concerns, pressure testing and transient analysis.”

By measuring pressure, water utilities can:

– Identify leaks and proactively help prevent main breaks;

– Reduce non-revenue water;

– Monitor and optimize system supply and operations;

– Improve customer service and service response times;

– Perform pressure transient analysis; and

– Receive real-time situational awareness and analytics relative to system pressure and supply.

“One of the greatest benefits of the AFC SEMPER™ RPM is that instead of responding to a catastrophic event, the data provided helps water utilities stay on the predictive side of system maintenance,” said AFC Marketing and Technical Manager Derek Scott. “This product and others you’ll see from AFC are very much the future of water. For a long time, we’ve seen the operational and maintenance side of water be reactionary. AFC SEMPER RPM makes this process more predictive.”
