Drake Named Technical Director at AMERICAN

David M. Drake has been named technical director at AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company (AMERICAN).

Drake joined AMERICAN in 1992 as an engineer in the melting department. He was named assistant superintendent of melting in 2003 and assistant works manager in 2006.

Drake received his bachelor’s degree in materials engineering from Auburn University and his master’s degree in materials engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is a certified manager and a licensed professional engineer.

Drake is a member of the American Foundry Society, the American Water Works Association and the ACIPCO Leadership Association.

Founded in 1905, Birmingham-based AMERICAN is a manufacturer of ductile iron pipe, spiral-welded steel pipe, fire hydrants and valves for the waterworks industry and electric-resistance steel pipe for the oil and natural gas industries. AMERICAN’s diversified product line also includes static castings and fire pumps.
