AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company recently announced the addition of Scott Murphy as assistant vice president of Finance. Murphy brings 35 years of corporate finance and accounting experience to the company. He earned his master’s in business administration from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Georgia.

Murphy’s career is vast. He served as chief financial officer for RMS Family Restaurants, Inc. and then as a corporate controller for Blue Bird Corporation. Murphy was self-employed as a financial services consultant and advisor for several years, and worked as a financial executive with Birch Communications, a technology and telecom provider, for about six years. During his tenure with Birch, the company grew in annual revenue by more than 300% by completing 20 acquisitions.

Murphy is a native of Georgia, and he and his wife, Caroline, have been married 35 years. They have three children and four grandchildren.
