AMERICAN Joins the Next Generation of Water Professionals at AWWA’s YP Training and Summit

As part of the summit, the Young Professionals Committee worked with the Cumberland River Compact to remove trash and debris from Gibson Creek and its tributaries. Among the participants were AMERICAN’s Bennett, Blakely and Kothari.

In early March 2019, the American Water Works Association’s Young Professionals Committee held a one-day training and one-day summit in Nashville, Tennessee. Among the attendees were three AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company sales engineers – Blake Bennett, Jeff Blakely and Coleman McClain. Blakely currently serves as chair of the Young Professionals Committee.

The purpose of the events was to familiarize young professionals, primarily water industry engineers and owners, with AWWA’s structure and provide opportunities for personal and professional growth. An estimated 130 young professionals attended the Leadership Training and 267 attended the YP Summit.

“Being a part of these events is truly valuable to our professional development and allows us to interact with current and future industry leaders from across North America,” Blakely said. “We are building relationships and raising awareness about AMERICAN, all while learning about critical issues facing the water industry and how young professionals can work together to solve them.”
